Message from the Chair:
Welcome from the Collaboration Committee! We are excited to introduce you to our functions and projects.
To better understand the context that we are operating from, I am providing a brief history. Following the self-study that the college prepared for the Commission on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation, and in an effort to better promote collaboration among the health professions and publi health disciplines, the Faculty Council established a subcommittee to promote collaboration at Interim Dean Michael Perri's request. A standing Committee on Collaboration was officiated on February 11, 2009.
Following the College's mission, our charge is to promote collaboration in research, teaching, and service. As such, our main objectives are to:
- Build commitment through learning and networking experiences, such as informal opportunities to socialize with other faculty members from across the college;
- Establish commitment by cultivating priorities, developing outcome measures, and strengthening networks; and
- Sustain commitment through integrating structures (e.g., highlight collaborative research activities during the College's Research Poster day), providing rewards, and formalizing networks.
Members from all the departments within the College, as well as two student delegates, serve two-year terms on our committee. We meet regularly to pursue the tasks consistent with the main objectives that need to be accomplished.
We look forward to continueing to create, establish and sustain great collaborations within the College and University. We invite you to peruse our Web site and to become familiar with our functions and projects, and to share your ideas!
Please contact me at sclassen@phhp.ufl.edu if you require any further information or if you want to share a great collaborative idea.
